Sendblue Alternatives for iMessage API (2026): Prices Compared

Written by ZeroSettle. We make one of the products compared.

The main alternatives to the Sendblue iMessage API are ZeroSettle, Blooio, LoopMessage, Linq, Photon, Project Blue and self-hosted BlueBubbles. Sendblue publishes a $100/month line that is inbound-first and quotes its outbound plan privately, while ZeroSettle Pro is $49/month for a dedicated iMessage number that can message first, with no setup fee. All prices below were checked on October 25, 2026.

Price check, October 25, 2026: ZeroSettle Pro is $49/month for a dedicated iMessage number that can message first. No managed iMessage API we checked publishes a lower price for a dedicated number (checked October 25, 2026). Courio also lists $49 (Starter: 500 outbound/month, then $0.02/message), and shared numbers or services that run on your own iPhone or Mac cost less. Pro opens 5 new contacts a day per number, fewer than the 30–50 most $99+ plans allow; people who text first are never limited. See what a dedicated iMessage number costs at each provider and the ZeroSettle iMessage API.

Key takeaways

  • What the Sendblue iMessage API charges: a free shared Sandbox (10 verified contacts, no outbound), a $100/line/month AI Agent plan that is "Inbound-first", and "Full outbound messaging" on Enterprise at a custom price.
  • Lowest published price for a managed, dedicated number that can message first: ZeroSettle Pro at $49/month, self-serve, no setup fee, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Courio also lists $49, with 500 outbound messages a month included.
  • Other managed, dedicated prices: Miss Blue $99 on sale, LoopMessage about $104.99 plus $60 once, SendiMessage from $129, Tuco $149 plus $335 setup, Project Blue $166–$199, Photon Business $250, Linq from $260 and Blooio $289 a month.
  • The trade-offs: ZeroSettle is iMessage only, with no SMS fallback, and Pro opens 5 new contacts a day per number. Sendblue, Linq, Blooio, LoopMessage and Photon offer SMS or RCS.
  • Switching: numbers do not move between providers, so contacts see a new number. ZeroSettle's Switch from Sendblue guide maps each Sendblue call and webhook field.

What does the Sendblue iMessage API cost?

Sendblue publishes two prices: a free Sandbox and an AI Agent plan at $100 per line per month. A line that can start conversations is on Enterprise, at a price you get from Sendblue's sales team. As checked on October 25, 2026, Sendblue's pricing page lists:

  • Sandbox ($0): a shared number, up to 10 verified contacts, no outbound messages and no webhooks. It is for testing.
  • AI Agent ($100/line/month): a dedicated line that is "Inbound-first", with up to 1,000 inbound contacts a day.
  • Enterprise (custom): "Full outbound messaging", plus volume pricing for 10 or more lines and annual discounts through sales.

Sendblue also offers RCS and SMS fallback, so a message to an Android phone still arrives. People usually look for a Sendblue iMessage alternative for one of three reasons: they want a published price for a number that can message first, they want to start without a sales call, or they want a lower monthly cost for one or two numbers. For background, see what an iMessage API is.

What do Sendblue iMessage API alternatives cost?

Among managed iMessage APIs that give you a dedicated number that can message first, the published monthly prices start at $49 (ZeroSettle Pro and Courio Starter); the others we found run from $99 (Miss Blue, on sale) to $389 (Blooio Enterprise Dedicated for one line) per line, and Sendblue's is a quote. Options under $49 exist, but they use a shared number or hardware you supply.

Courio also lists $49 (Starter: 500 outbound/month, then $0.02/message). Courio is new: we read its price from its own site and found no third-party coverage. Other managed dedicated options we checked: SendiMessage from $129, Tuco $149 plus $335 setup, Blue Reacher $249 (or $1,949 a year) plus a $449 activation fee waived on annual plans, Sendara $249 plus $99 setup, and Conduit $300 a number, paid annually.

One Blooio page calls its $39 Starter "dedicated"; Blooio's main pricing page and pricing.md say it is a shared number, so we list it as shared. The full breakdown is in iMessage API pricing compared.

For one number over a year, ZeroSettle Pro costs $588, Sendblue's inbound-first AI Agent line $1,200, and Linq Pro at least $3,120 at list price.

Which Sendblue iMessage alternative fits which team?

The right Sendblue iMessage alternative depends on whether you need Android reach, how many people you message first each day, and whether you want to run hardware yourself.

ZeroSettle

Price: Pro $49/month for one dedicated number, self-serve, no setup fee, month to month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Growth is $599/month for 3 numbers that work as one, plus $199 per extra number; you sign up from a Growth link (book a demo to get one).

Pick it when: you want a published price and a number today, your customers mostly text you first or you open a few new conversations a day, or you want texts answered without running a server through the hosted AI agent (Beta). It sends photos with captions, voice messages, tapbacks, typing indicators, inline replies, 13 effects and polls, shows your brand name and photo, and supports group chats of up to 31 people, enabled per number on request. Webhooks are signed with HMAC-SHA256, and an MCP connector at https://portal.zerosettle.io/mcp lets an AI coding agent set it up. See the ZeroSettle iMessage API.

Skip it when: you need SMS fallback, or you need to message more than 5 new people a day on one number without moving to Growth.

Blooio

Price: Starter $39 (shared), Commercial Shared $89, Inbound $98 (reply-only), Commercial Dedicated $289 a line, and Enterprise Dedicated from $389 for one line down to $195 a line at six or more. No setup fee or annual contract.

Pick it when: you want iMessage, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp and Apple Messages for Business through one provider, or you are buying several dedicated lines at volume. More in ZeroSettle vs Blooio.

LoopMessage

Price: Light from $59.99/month per sender; a phone number ($15/month plus $15 once) and the ability to start conversations ($30/month plus $30 once) are add-ons, which with a $15 sender name comes to about $104.99/month plus $60 once. A free sandbox (5 contacts) and a $20 shared sender for AI assistants are also listed.

Pick it when: you want iMessage, SMS/RCS and WhatsApp on one number and a larger daily contact allowance (300 unique active contacts a day on Light). Starting conversations needs warm-up and recent opt-in, and LoopMessage says "cold outbound-only messaging is not supported". More in ZeroSettle vs LoopMessage.

Linq

Price: Hobby $0 through its CLI (a shared line, up to 20 contacts); Pro "Starting at $260/mo" with a 7-day trial and no card; Enterprise custom.

Pick it when: you need RCS and SMS fallback, official SDKs, SOC 2 reports, or a contractual SLA on Enterprise, and want to try before paying. More in ZeroSettle vs Linq.

Photon

Price: Free and Pro ($25/month, up to 100 users) give each of your users a number from a shared pool; Business is $250 a line for dedicated lines; the open-source version is free to run on your own Mac.

Pick it when: your product gives each user an assistant and a shared number is fine, or you want a dedicated line with RCS and SMS fallback, or you want to self-host.

Project Blue

Price: $166/month per line billed annually ($1,998 a year), or $199/month on a 12-month commitment, with setup waived. Month to month is available by asking on the demo call, with no published price.

Pick it when: your sales team works in GoHighLevel, HubSpot or Close and wants iMessage inside the CRM, and an annual commitment after a demo suits you. More in ZeroSettle vs Project Blue.

BlueBubbles (self-hosted)

Price: free software, with an optional Pro tier at $3/month, $30/year or $55 lifetime. You supply a Mac that stays online and your own Apple ID and number.

Pick it when: you already have a spare Mac, are happy to keep it running yourself and accept the risk to your own Apple account. More in self-hosting iMessage vs a managed API.

When should you stay on the Sendblue iMessage API?

The Sendblue iMessage API remains a good fit in several cases:

  • Android reach: Sendblue falls back to RCS and SMS; ZeroSettle refuses a first message to a non-iMessage number with 422 not_on_imessage.
  • High inbound volume: the $100 AI Agent line allows up to 1,000 inbound contacts a day.
  • Many lines at a negotiated price: Sendblue sells volume pricing on 10 or more lines and annual discounts through sales.
  • Large outbound programs: if you already have a Sendblue Enterprise contract for full outbound, ZeroSettle Pro's 5 new contacts a day per number will not replace it; Growth allows 50 a day per number.

How do you switch from the Sendblue iMessage API to ZeroSettle?

ZeroSettle's Switch from Sendblue guide is a prompt you paste into your AI coding agent; it uses plain HTTPS and JSON, with no SDK. The steps:

  1. Get a number and an API token, then check the token with GET /api/imessage/line.
  2. List your Sendblue usage: the sendblue packages, calls to api.sendblue.co, the sb-api-key-id and sb-api-secret-key headers, SENDBLUE_* environment variables, status_callback URLs and webhook handlers.
  3. Map each call (table below), wrapped in one small module.
  4. Replace the webhooks with one URL registered through PUT /api/imessage/webhook. Verify the X-ZeroSettle-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256 of the timestamp and raw body, 300-second tolerance) and act only on message.received.
  5. Handle the differences: no SMS fallback (422 not_on_imessage), the daily new-contact limits (429), at most 2 unanswered messages per contact (403 awaiting_reply), and text only until a contact replies (403 attachment_before_reply).
  6. Tell your contacts about the new number with a short message from the old one. Each existing contact counts as a new contact on the new number until they text it, so asking them to text first saves your daily allowance.
  7. Test, then remove the Sendblue packages, code, environment variables and webhooks.

How we checked

We read each provider's own pricing page on October 25, 2026 and tested nothing that needs an account with another provider.

  • Sendblue, Blooio, LoopMessage, Linq, Photon, Project Blue, BlueBubbles, Texting Blue, Miss Blue, SendiMessage, Tuco, Blue Reacher and Conduit: their pricing pages or pricing docs, listed under Sources.
  • Courio and Project Blue render their pages in the browser, so we read the downloaded page code. Sendara's pricing page returned an error, so its figures come from its own buyer's guide. myCRMSIM's page could not be read, so its price comes from press coverage.
  • Daily contact figures for Project Blue and Linq, Linq's SDKs and SOC 2 reports, and LoopMessage's fallback add-on are from our October 8, 2026 research and were not re-checked.
  • ZeroSettle: its signup page and API docs, including the Switch from Sendblue guide, checked October 25, 2026.

Prices change often. We refresh this page quarterly and log changes in the changelog.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sendblue publish a price for an iMessage line that can message first?

No. Sendblue's pricing page lists a free Sandbox (a shared number, up to 10 verified contacts, no outbound, no webhooks) and an AI Agent plan at $100 per line per month that is "Inbound-first". "Full outbound messaging" is on the Enterprise plan at a custom price (checked October 25, 2026).

Which Sendblue iMessage API alternative costs least for a dedicated number?

ZeroSettle Pro is $49/month for a dedicated iMessage number that can message first. No managed iMessage API we checked publishes a lower price for a dedicated number (checked October 25, 2026). Courio also lists $49 (Starter: 500 outbound/month, then $0.02/message). Shared numbers (LoopMessage $20, Photon $25, Blooio $39) and tools that run on your own iPhone or Mac (Texting Blue $19, myCRMSIM about $29, BlueBubbles free) cost less.

Can I keep my Sendblue iMessage number when I move to ZeroSettle?

No. ZeroSettle documents no number porting, so your contacts will text a new number. ZeroSettle's switch guide says to send your contacts a short message from the old number that points them to the new one, and ZeroSettle shares your business name and photo with the first message of each conversation.

Does ZeroSettle fall back to SMS like the Sendblue iMessage API?

No. ZeroSettle is iMessage only. A first message to someone who is not on iMessage is refused with 422 not_on_imessage, and nothing is sent. If many of your customers use Android, Sendblue, Linq, Blooio, LoopMessage and Photon offer SMS or RCS and fit better.

How many people can a ZeroSettle number message first each day?

Pro opens 5 new contacts a day per number, fewer than the 30–50 most $99+ plans allow; people who text first are never limited. Growth is $599/month for 3 numbers, plus $199 per extra number, and allows 50 new contacts a day per number. Each number can send and receive up to 10,000 messages a day with known contacts.
