How it works

ZeroSettle pricing: plans, limits and how to get a number

ZeroSettle Pro costs $49 a month for one iMessage number that can send the first message to 5 new contacts a day, with unlimited messages with people who message you first, 1,000 AI credits a month, no setup fee and a 30-day money-back guarantee. ZeroSettle Growth, for several numbers working as one, is from $599 a month after a demo, and Enterprise has custom pricing. You get a Pro number in four steps from the ZeroSettle console: sign in, say what the number is for, set your name and photo, and subscribe.

Key takeaways

  • What it is: ZeroSettle is an iMessage API: a real phone number on real iMessage, running on Apple hardware we operate for you, that your code texts customers from and hears back on through a bearer token and signed webhooks.
  • Price: Pro is $49/month for one number, self-serve. Growth is “From $599/mo” for 3+ numbers, after a demo. Enterprise is “Custom pricing”.
  • Main limit: new contacts, not messages. Pro allows 5 a day per number, Growth 50, and both allow at most 2 unanswered messages to one contact. People who message you first are unlimited. Messages in and out are unlimited (counted).
  • AI credits: 1,000 a month on Pro and 5,000 on Growth, for the hosted AI agent only. Packs are 1,000 for $50 or 5,000 for $200.
  • Not included: no free trial (a 30-day money-back guarantee instead), no number porting or area-code choice, and no SMS fallback.

What do the ZeroSettle plans include?

ZeroSettle has one self-serve plan, Pro, at $49 a month for one number, and two sales-led plans: Growth at “From $599/mo” and Enterprise at “Custom pricing”. All three carry “No setup fee · Cancel anytime” on the zerosettle.io pricing section.

What do the ZeroSettle limits mean in practice?

ZeroSettle limits how many new people each number can message first, not how many messages it sends: outbound and inbound messages are unlimited (counted). Pro allows 5 new contacts a day per number and Growth allows 50; both stop at 2 unanswered messages to one contact.

ZeroSettle limits per number (API docs, checked October 12, 2026)
LimitProGrowth
New contacts per day (3 AM to 3 AM Eastern)550
New contacts per rolling 15 minutesNot stated (the 5-a-day cap applies)3
Unanswered messages to one contact2, then 403 awaiting_reply2, then 403 awaiting_reply
Photos and voice messagesOnly to contacts who have repliedOnly to contacts who have replied
Outbound and inbound messagesUnlimited (counted)Unlimited (counted)

Source: ZeroSettle iMessage API docs, “Errors, limits, and compliance”. On both plans, messages sent within 5 minutes of the first count as one, and anything the contact sends back (a text, photo, voice note or tapback) resets the unanswered count.

The docs define the term: “A ‘new contact’ is a handle the line delivers a text, voice message, or photo to first; reactions, typing, profile shares, and failed sends never count. Anyone who texted the line first is never limited, and neither is an ongoing conversation.” Deleting a conversation makes that person a new contact again. Every first message is also checked with Apple: if the address isn't on iMessage, the API answers 422 not_on_imessage, nothing is sent and no new-contact slot is used.

The limit math for one number

  • Pro: 5 a day is about 150 first messages a month per number (5 × 30 days, our arithmetic). Need more? Book a demo to upgrade to Growth.
  • Growth: 50 a day is about 1,500 a month per number. At 3 per 15 minutes, the 50th new contact goes out about 4 hours after the first (both our arithmetic).
  • At the cap: the API answers 429 new_contact_limit with retry_after_s; on Pro, its message says how to upgrade. With several numbers, a send is refused only when every number is full (or, when the send names a number, when that one is).

The docs say the caps are “what keeps the number out of Apple's spam filters”, and they apply to the console too. See how to keep a business iMessage number out of spam filters.

What do ZeroSettle AI credits cost?

ZeroSettle AI credits come with the plan: 1,000 a month on Pro and 5,000 on Growth, and extra packs cost $50 for 1,000 or $200 for 5,000. Only the hosted AI agent (Beta) uses them, one for each text it sends. The monthly credits are shared by every number on the account, and unused ones don't carry over.

ZeroSettle AI credit packs (API docs, checked October 8, 2026)
PackPrice, paid oncePer text (our arithmetic)Expiry
1,000 credits$505¢Never expires
5,000 credits$2004¢Never expires
  • What uses a credit: every text the agent sends, so a three-text answer uses three. Typing, tapbacks and an answer it decides not to send use none, and a refused or failed text gives its credit back.
  • Your own server uses none: a line your code answers through the API never spends AI credits.
  • Running out: at 20% left and again at zero, ZeroSettle sends a text with a buy link to the number you sign in with. At zero the agent goes quiet until credits refill or you buy a pack.

Settings that decide how many texts the agent sends are in how ZeroSettle's hosted AI agent answers iMessages.

How do you get a ZeroSettle number, step by step?

A ZeroSettle Pro number takes four steps in the console, and the API opens once the subscription is active. Growth starts with a demo booking, after which ZeroSettle sends a signup link that runs the same steps.

  1. Press Get started and sign in with your phone number (a one-time SMS code). A number is set aside for you while you finish.
  2. Answer one question: what the number is for (sign in with iMessage, branded messages, or an AI agent). That claims the number.
  3. Set your brand name and photo, and text yourself a test message from the new number. You can skip the test, and change the name and photo later.
  4. Subscribe. The console and the API open once the subscription is active.

Until the subscription is active, the API answers 402 to everything, and a number not paid for within 30 minutes is released. Numbers can sell out: if all are taken, you can join the waitlist.

After subscribing, one call confirms the line is paid and shows today's new-contact count:

bash
BASE=https://portal.zerosettle.io
# ZEROSETTLE_TOKEN: your API token from the console, kept in the environment
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $ZEROSETTLE_TOKEN" "$BASE/api/imessage/line"
json (response trimmed to two fields, Pro)
{
  "handle": "+18055550100",
  "usage": {"inbound":      {"used": 12, "limit": null, "period": "30d"},
            "outbound":     {"used": 9,  "limit": null, "period": "30d"},
            "new_contacts": {"used": 1,  "limit": 5,    "period": "day",
                             "resets_at": "2026-10-09T07:00:00+00:00"}}
}

handle is your number. inbound and outbound count the last 30 days, and "limit": null means unlimited; new_contacts counts since the last 3 AM Eastern, and resets_at is the next reset, in UTC. Unpaid, the call returns 402 payment_required.

An AI coding agent can run the same steps: with the ZeroSettle connector in Claude Code, Claude or Cursor, the get-started prompt signs you up and hands you a Stripe payment link (see connecting Claude Code or Cursor to an iMessage number and the connector docs).

Is there a ZeroSettle free trial or refund?

ZeroSettle has no free trial. Pro and Growth subscriptions carry a 30-day money-back guarantee instead: “ask within 30 days and you are refunded in full and the subscription is cancelled.”

  • Covered: the subscription only. “The money-back guarantee covers the subscription, not packs.”
  • Before paying: setup step 3 lets you text your personal number from the new line and see the result first.
  • Cancelling: “Any time, from the console.” The terms add: “Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period.”

What isn't included in a ZeroSettle plan?

A ZeroSettle plan includes the use of a number on iMessage, not ownership of it. Number porting, area-code choice, non-US numbers, SMS fallback and a contractual SLA are not part of any published plan.

  • The number stays ZeroSettle's. “Phone numbers assigned to your lines remain the property of ZeroSettle. Once a subscription is no longer active, the number is reclaimed and may be reassigned or returned to its provider.” There is no porting out or bringing your own.
  • No area-code choice. ZeroSettle assigns the number; you can still reach iMessage users abroad with their country code.
  • No SMS fallback. “The address must be on someone's iMessage; there is no SMS or email fallback.” SMS fallback for non-Apple phones is on the roadmap; until then, keep email or chat for Android customers.
  • No SLA. ZeroSettle reports “99.9% uptime” on its homepage; that is a published figure, not a contractual service level.

Need several numbers working as one, with more new contacts a day? That's Growth.

How does ZeroSettle's price compare?

ZeroSettle Pro is $49 a month. The paid plans below, from four other iMessage API providers, start at $100 to $289 a month as of October 8, 2026, and differ in whether the number can send the first message.

Published starting prices for a paid iMessage API plan (each vendor's pricing page, checked October 8, 2026)
PlanPublished priceNotes from the pricing page
ZeroSettle Pro$49/monthSends the first message to 5 new contacts a day; unlimited messages with people who message you first; no SMS fallback
Sendblue AI Agent$100/month per dedicated line“Inbound-first messaging”; full outbound is on Enterprise, priced by volume
LoopMessage Light + phone number + Init conversationsFrom $104.99/month + $60 once (our arithmetic)Init conversations: “Your sender may initiate conversations with new contacts first”
Linq Pro“Starting at $260/mo”The pricing page doesn't say whether this is per number; 7-day free trial offered
Blooio Commercial Dedicated$289/month per lineThe $98/month Inbound plan is reply-only: “Inbound numbers cannot start new conversations”

LoopMessage: Light from $59.99 + number $15 + Init conversations $30 a month; $60 once covers the number ($15), Init conversations ($30) and sender name ($15). ZeroSettle wrote this page and makes one of the products listed; confirm prices at checkout.

Price is one axis; fallback is another. LoopMessage sells SMS/RCS fallback as a $15-a-month add-on, Linq lists “RCS and SMS fallback” from its free plan up, and ZeroSettle has none. See iMessage API pricing compared for the full breakdown, ZeroSettle's comparison pages for each provider, and How ZeroSettle works for more explainers.

Frequently asked questions

Are ZeroSettle messages billed per message?

No. Outbound and inbound messages are unlimited (counted) on both plans; the enforced limits are on new contacts and unanswered messages. SMS APIs such as Twilio bill per message: $0.0083 per outbound US long-code SMS segment plus carrier fees, as of October 2026.

Can I have more than one ZeroSettle number?

Yes. Either plan can add numbers from the console or the API. Several numbers work as one under the same API key, webhook and live stream, and each person hears from one number only. Growth is the sales-led plan built around 3+ numbers and more new contacts.

Do I pay for a new number if mine is flagged as spam?

No. ZeroSettle's homepage says: “If it does happen, we replace the number right away at no extra charge.” Your token, webhook and code stay the same, but recipients see a new number; see what happens when a number is flagged.

Are photos, voice messages and typing indicators priced separately?

No. Photos (up to 5 MB) and voice messages (up to 6 MB) are unlimited and counted like texts, and they can go only to contacts who have replied. Typing indicators are not stored, not counted and not billed.

Can I pay for ZeroSettle annually?

Pro and Growth are billed monthly through Stripe. Annual invoicing is listed only under Enterprise.
